Course title: LIFE Programme: the EU’s funding instrument for the environment

Course description
The LIFE program is the European Union's funding instrument for environmental and climate action. LIFE began in 1992 and in 2022 celebrates 20 years of activity. The overall objective of LIFE is to contribute to the implementation, updating, and development of EU policies and legislation on the environment and climate by co-financing projects. Its main areas include nature and biodiversity, circular economy and quality of life, mitigation and adaptation to climate change, and transition to clean energy. The course will introduce the LIFE program and its various phases from 1992 to the present day. It will illustrate the main steps leading from application to funding attainment. Doctoral students will gain an understanding of the structure and management of LIFE projects through the analysis of some completed or ongoing projects.
