SUS-MIRRI.IT Project Progress Meeting
On January 20 2025, the second progress meeting of the SUS-MIRRI.IT project was held at the CNR headquarters in Rome, attended by 150 researchers, PhD students and technical staff from all over the country.
Financed by 17 million euros through the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (NRRP), the project aims to strengthen the Italian network of microbial collections (MIRRI-IT) and unlock the biotechnological potential of microbial biodiversity.
The milestones achieved so far are
– establishment of the Italian National Node for MIRRI-ERIC.
– national catalogue with over 37,000 microbial strains.
– 50 new hires and laboratory upgrades.
– 25 training courses, 56 innovative services and 48 scientific papers.
This collaborative effort is shaping a sustainable future for microbial science, promoting the green transition and bio-economic growth.
